Chiropractic for Migraine
If you suffer from migraines, you’re certainly not alone. They’re relatively common, affecting an estimated 10% of the population. What can be done to get rid of migraines? According to a recent study, chiropractic care may hold the answer.
One hundred and twenty-seven migraine patients (at least one migraine per month) were divided into two groups for comparison. Group 1 received chiropractic adjustments at specific vertebral subluxations determined by the treating practitioner; group 2 served as controls and received inactive treatment (electrical stimulation with no current delivered). Subjects receiving chiropractic adjustments reported substantial improvement in migraine frequency, duration, disability, and medication use following two months of treatment. One in five participants reported a 90% reduction in migraines, and half reported significant improvement in migraine severity.
Are you tired of migraine headaches ruining your day? With conventional over-the-counter medications proving less than effective (and often accompanied by dangerous side effects), it’s time to fight the pain from another angle. To find out more about the potential benefits of chiropractic care, schedule an appointment with your doctor of chiropractic.

Migraine Awareness Week
5th - 11th Septmeber 2010
Migraine Awareness Week (MAW) is an annual event that aims to raise awareness of this much-misunderstood condition and encourage those affected to seek information and advice to help manage their migraine. Each year Migraine Action distributes thousands of posters and leaflets to members and supporters, GP surgeries, pharmacies and other interested parties in the UK as part of the week's activities.
Migraines are misunderstood... help us to raise awareness
The support of members and migraineurs is key to the success of Migraine Awareness Week. By spreading the word you can increase understanding of the condition, the impact it can have on thousands of people, and help to lessen the feeling of isolation felt by many migraineurs.
Each year Migraine Action focuses on a particular theme during the week, along with discussing migraine generally.
In 2009 the theme was migraine in children and young people and during the week Migraine Action launched its 'Young Migraineurs Campaign'. For more information on the campaign visit www.migraine.org.uk/youngmigraineurs. Last year Mark held a Migraine Awareness talk at the clinic, explaining how chiropractic can help migraine sufferers. The theme for Migraine Awareness Week 2010 is 'Migraine in the workplace'
Chiropractic First has already posted a recent blog explaining how stress (a common cause of migraine) can be reduced in the workplace and we have received literature from Migraine Action that is available in reception this week.
